Q: What do I do if I submitted an application but need to make a change?

If you have already submitted an application, and it is before the deadline, reach out to our team for assistance.

Q: If I change my college choice will it affect my scholarship application?

Maybe. It depends on the eligibility criteria for that scholarship. If you are awarded a scholarship and your college choice changes, let the Community Foundation know right away.

Q: Will I receive an acknowledgement of my scholarship application?

Yes. The online system will send you an automatic email acknowledging the receipt of your scholarship application (check your Junk or SPAM folder if you don’t receive an email upon submission). This email does not confirm that your application is complete.

Q: Will the Community Foundation of greater Richmond release any of the personal information that I submit?

All information received is confidential and will only be reviewed by the appropriate scholarship review committee members who agree to maintain confidentiality.

Q: How will I know if I have been awarded a scholarship or not?

The Community Foundation will notify all applicants via email or mail in mid-May.

Q: How will I receive my scholarship?

Scholarships are paid directly to the educational institution you will be attending by early August.

Scholarships at the Community Foundation are offered to students living in the Richmond region and other Virginia locations. Each scholarship was established by a generous individual, family, or organization with a desire to assist high school students, recent high school graduates, and adult learners to continue their education.

Renew or Reapply

Some of our scholarships offer the opportunity to renew or reapply for an additional year of support. You will receive information via email (to the email address we have on file in our online system) in early January with instructions to submit your application.
