Inequality and Injustice in our Region
According to 2020 data, in our Region 6% of White residents live in poverty compared to 18% of Black and Latino residents. Much of this adversity is rooted in our region's history and dismantling systemic racism, reversing inequality, and ensuring that all people can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential are key to the success of our economy and community.
Why Social Justice Matters
Social justice organizations advocate for equality and fairness by influencing policy, community organizing, direct action, legal assistance, education, research, and support services, aiming to address various forms of injustice and inequality. They work to raise awareness, mobilize communities, challenge unjust policies, and provide support to marginalized groups, ultimately to create a more equitable and inclusive community and society.
